ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this. It's a great collection of thoughts on the problem. Being relatively new to teaching, I think about this dilemma all the time. Can one "teach" art? And if so, how? I'm not always sure of the answers to these questions. I often despair about art schools as institutions, but I'm heartened knowing that 3-4 of my own teachers, as individuals, made a huge difference in my life and overall had a massively positive influence on me.
