InternActive

InternActive was born out of enthusiasm and experience. As a grad student (we can’t say when) our leader, Lydia Johnson, pulled a harpsichord worth of strings to land an internship with the curator of antiquities at the J. Paul Getty Museum. For a student of the humanities, an internship in the vaults of the villa overlooking the Pacific was an awe-inspiring opportunity.

Diploma and white gloves in hand, our artifact lover eventually became a Professor and Museum Director herself. She took students under her wing, nurtured them, and placed them in internships. The student/mentor relationship was electric. Time and time again, Lydia found that an enthusiastic student and a knowledgeable supervisor made a great team and each benefited from the experience. That’s why InternActive was created.

NODE Berlin

Node Center for Curatorial Studies was created in order to offer a platform to teach, experiment, and investigate subjects related to curatorial studies and contemporary art practices.

The Center´s core activity stems from the Curatorial Studies Program that offers its participants the possibility of expanding their work experience, with professional feedback and technical support, by developing projects in Berlin.

Each trimester, Node focuses on a key topic that questions inherited curatorial practices and that invents new ways of creating knowledge by finding new possibilities in the exhibition process.

Residents of the Curatorial Studies Program along with artists, curators and guest specialists take on these key topics in order to create a solid body of research.

Correct Copyright Notice

A copyright notice indicates that a work is protected by copyright, identifies the copyright owner and shows the year of first publication. Under US law a copyright notice is no longer required to protect copyright. Photographers own the copyright to their work the instant they press the button.

However you should absolutely include a properly formatted copyright notice on each page of your website that displays an image. With the notice present the defendant in an infringement lawsuit can no longer claim they did not realize that the work was protected – the so-called “innocent infringement” defense which, if successful, can result in reduced damages.

GERARD BYRNE A THING IS A HOLE IN A THING IT IS NOT

How Long Is Now?
In the decade spanning 1958 to 1968, developments in American visual art moved at a fast clip. In the wake of a triumphal Abstract Expressionism came Pop Art, Minimalism and Conceptual Art. Keeping abreast was a challenge fielded by the burgeoning rank of critics eager to sort out debates well in advance of history.

How to Apply for Art and Artist Grants, Residencies, Funding, Aid and Other Opportunities for Assistance

Generating income from art in the form of either cash or cash equivalents is always challenging, especially for artists with unconventional ideas or for those who create art that may not be commercially viable. The good news is that the art world is one place where anyone who shows talent and promise, marketable or otherwise, can get help in a variety of ways including cash grants, residencies, employment or internships, allowances, free or low-cost studio space, art supplies, exhibition space, and so on. Receiving these types of assistance is not easy; application processes can be rigorous and competition is often intense. So in the interest of giving you a bit of an edge in situations where you're contending for a bequest, here's a brief tutorial on procedural matters.
